Kay's move to Yorkshire is a return to her roots.
Back in Harrogate we have recently acquired Aunt Bly's recipe book, full of amazing cake recipes from a bygone age. We are working to resurrect them for a North York Moors take on these traditional recipes, baked lovingly in the Aga, using the finest ingredients and sourced as locally as possible.
Kay's tea loaf is a staple enjoyed on arrival by our holiday cottage guests. We hope to share many more.
We acquired our first bees locally back in late June 2017 from a fellow Rydale Beekeeping Association member in beautiful rural Farndale deep in the heart of the North York Moors National Park.
Our hive swarmed unexpectedly in early May '18. We then waited for the bees to raise a new queen and start laying, thus losing honey production time.
In July when Levisham Hall Bees swarmed we were given a new colony; in time for the August Heather Forage.
It's mid March and both hives are successfully through the winter. So with luck our summer cottage guest will get to sample some pure Levisham Station honey.
